Description
Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy - An Alternative Approach to Treating Pain
First introduced to Body and Mind Studio International® in 2011, Advanced Clinical Massage (ACM) has been the foundation of our therapy services. It can be experienced as a standalone therapy or as an integral part of our comprehensive Clinical Massage Fusion® therapy.
What is Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy?
ACM combines a unique blend of Eastern and Western therapeutic techniques. These include Eastern approaches such as Amma Therapy, acupressure, Thai-inspired limb techniques and Meridian Stretch Massage, alongside Western techniques including myofascial work, trigger point therapy and sports stretching.
Every treatment is tailored to individual needs. Rather than focusing solely on an injury, painful area, condition or diagnosis, ACM considers you as a whole person, recognising how different areas of the body can interact and contribute to the way you feel and the pain you may be experiencing.
The ACM approach is informed by the latest understanding of pain science, helping to support the relationship between the body and nervous system. Alongside the treatment itself, practical advice and guidance can help you better understand your pain, support your own recovery and reduce the likelihood of it returning.
ACM is gentle and nourishing, yet deep and powerful. Techniques are applied with care and precision, without the need for unnecessarily forceful or uncomfortable treatment.
Our Jing-trained ACM Therapist, Paul Hopfensperger, has extensive experience working with people experiencing a wide range of muscular aches, pains and movement-related problems, including neck and shoulder pain, tennis and golfer's elbow, lower back pain, groin strains, plantar fasciitis and many others. ACM can also be beneficial when muscular tension contributes to associated symptoms such as restricted range of movement, weakness, headaches, tinnitus and referred pain.
Beyond physical pain, ACM can also provide valuable support for people experiencing the physical effects associated with trauma, mental health challenges and emotional burnout, helping to promote relaxation, body awareness and a greater sense of wellbeing.

How Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Treatment works at Body and Mind Studio International®
Your ACM Therapy is delivered in a calm, comfortable and professional wellness environment. We want you to feel relaxed and at ease throughout your visit, and your treatment process will be as follows:
First Appointment
- When you book your first appointment, you will be able to download a professional consultation form. This should be completed as fully as possible, and brought with you to your first appointment. We can arrange a mutually agreeable appointment date and time once you have placed your order above.
- There is no need to arrive earlier than your appointment time, the extra time for pre-massage talks and consultation is accounted for after the appointment time you book for.
- Your completed consultation form will then be assessed and signed prior to your first treatment. This normally takes around 15 minutes. We will then proceed with a full 60 minutes ACM treatment.
All Appointments
- Before your treatment begins, your therapist will explain the treatment and ensure you are comfortable and happy to proceed.
- You will then be given privacy to comfortably position yourself on our massage therapy mattress
- Your therapist will return once you are ready and your ACM treatment will begin.
- Once your treatment is complete, you will be given time and privacy to relax, re-dress and prepare to leave. Your therapist will also provide any relevant post-treatment hydration, post-treatment advice and relaxation guidance.
